The Windows
Not a lot of people realize quite how much their windows do for them. Aside from letting in light, they also act as insulation, will keep water out, and help to lower the noise from vehicles and other things on the outside. It takes a lot of skill to be able to replace this part of a home without causing damage to the structure which is already there. Along with this, if you try to do this sort of job yourself, you could open the floodgates when it comes to issues like leaks and drafts. This can make it very hard to live in your home, especially when you find how affordable the work can be if you buy the windows yourself and let someone else install them for you.
The Roof
Like your windows, the roof on your home is designed to keep things like heat in, while also making sure that everything stays dry. They aren’t simply a lid on top of your home, though. To function correctly, a roof has to be planned very carefully, taking into account a lot of different aspects which a lot of people will ignore. In reality, though, you could be putting yourself at great risk if you decide to dabble with them. Electrical wiring can kill you in an instant, and may even lead to fires if you’re not successful with the job. Plumbing, if it is for gas, could leak out explosive materials and cause problems of its own if you don’t handle it correctly. It’s never worth putting yourself at risk like this to save a bit of money. Water plumbing can cause issues of it's own if not handled properly.
